Fabrication Laboratory Opens at Cascade

By PCC Press Release|November 30, 2016Announcements, Cascade|

Located in the Paragon Arts Center on North Killingsworth Street, the Fabrication Lab recently opened its doors to students and community members interested in art and production. The Fab Lab is a collaborative, 1,500 square-foot space equipped with high-end, industry-standard fabrication technologies — a CNC router, laser cutter, printmaking press, screen printing press, exposure unit, screen printing washout boot, aqua tint box, stencil cutter, 3D printer, and industrial sewing machine.
At the intersection of art, manufacturing, entrepreneurship and science, the Fab Lab provides a space for interdisciplinary collaboration in the design and fabrication of artistic, functional and commercial objects.
Experienced program manager and industrial designer Jodi Jack has joined Cascade to lead the program as our Fabrication Lab Coordinator. Her role is to support credit and non-credit students in learning the tools and processes of fabrication and to collaborate with faculty in identifying fabrication projects relevant to the learning outcomes of their courses. With the first phase complete Jodi will continue staging the lab through Winter quarter and conducting inaugural orientations and workshops in Spring.
