soccer ballDid you know Portland Community College currently has men’s and women’s soccer teams? The men’s soccer team will have tryouts on Saturday, April 29 from 3-6pm at the Hillsboro Stadium Soccer Field (turf field). For any athletes who are interested in playing or trying out for the team, they can contact Walter Arevalo, PCC Men’s Soccer Head Coach with any questions or concerns via phone number or email: 360-910-6616 or walter.enrique@bol.com.

Also, it’s important for any potential player who is interested in playing for the soccer team to complete and bring a player information sheet as well as their own water bottle on the day of tryouts. The player information sheet can be found and downloaded online on the PCC men’s soccer team’s website.

The men’s soccer team starts their season by playing two friendly soccer games (Portland vs. Skagit Valley) in Eugene Oregon, on Saturday, August 27 at 5pm and Sunday, August 28 at 2pm. The regular season begins at 11:00am on Tuesday, August 30, (Spokane vs. Portland) at 53rd Ave. Field. The men’s soccer team plays a total of 19 games throughout the regular season- not including playoffs. Most of the games are played in either Oregon or Washington.

The season ends in November when they play their last regular season game on Wednesday, November 2 at 4:15pm in Bellingham, Washington. The men’s soccer team finished the 2016 season with a record of 9 wins, 5 losses, and 5 ties for a total of 30 points during the regular season and also clinched a playoff berth. The men’s soccer team currently has 24 athletes on their roster.

In addition to the men’s soccer team, there is also a PCC women’s soccer team and the tryouts will begin in June. We will have more information on the women’s team in the near future.
