About Samantha Saxby

Former Cascade Campus Editor (2014-2015), I grew up on the east coast, mainly the St. Petersburg/Clearwater, FL region, and was afforded many opportunities to write and hone my craft. I knew I wanted to be a writer at a young age, and was fortunate enough to have several mentors along the way. In grade school I placed in a few statewide creative writing competitions and attended writing camps and seminars at the Poynter Institute. While attending Osceola Fundamental High School was published in our literary magazine, The Oracle, and mentored incoming freshman. After graduation I began doing freelance work for the Tampa Bay Times, covering topics ranging from music and art shows to up and coming local businesses of interest in the area. I moved to Portland in 2012 and eagerly began working towards my AAOT, here, at Portland Community College. I am over the moon about this new venture as editor of The Bridge at Cascade Campus -- I look forward to working with anyone and everyone interested in writing appealing articles.
