Are you a student who needs to file their taxes for 2017? Do you need tax prep assistance and do not have the funds to pay for an accountant? This statewide nonprofit established a tax site location on PCC’s Cascade campus, in the Technology Education Building (TEB) 226 on the second floor every Friday 8:00 AM to 11:50 AM until March 23rd.
If you do not live in North Portland, do not worry, as they also have a website with a list of locations across the city that offer the free tax help. The only caveat is that you must make less than $33K a year and also qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit. If you are not sure what that means, TurboTax provides a FAQ page that explains the many factors that decides EITC qualification. A few of the important qualifying points being: you must have earned some amount of income, it cannot be more than $3450 in investment income, and you must have been born before 1992 if you are not claiming a child in your tax return. This is not an exhaustive list of EITC qualifications, so call CASH Oregon at (503) 243-7765 to inquire further.
